Back Blog: Pakistan - Lahore Fort

One more site I was able to go to was the Lahore Fort and the Badshahi Mosque. It actually was a beautiful place, I would have liked to be able to just wander through it without rush. Even if it was annoying that they made me pay the foreigner rate. Don't I look like a local!?

Back Blog: Pakistan - Karachi

Finally got my pics sorted. Here is the first set: Karachi. I'll let the pics tell the story. The first couple of picstures are from the national highway which connects Hyderabad and Karachi. The day after I landed I drove to Hyderabad to see a drop-in centre for injection drug users. The rest are random Karachi pics.

It's that time of year

The time of year where all taste buds and stomachs turn to Easter candy! I know valentine comes in between, but valentine's doesn't have the Cadbury Cream Eggs. Or even more importantly - PEEPS! (Even if Just Born got on the marketing bandwagon and introduced valentine peeps, they are just not the same)

There is nothing better to make you feel all good inside than a sugar coated marshmallow chick or the nice gooey sweet centre of a chocolate egg. It’s actually the only thing that makes spring allergies bearable I think.

Lucky for me the Cadbury Company is based in the UK, even if they have branched out in other countries. So I ‘m well stocked in cream eggs. But these silly Brits still have not caught on to wonder that is peeps. Sigh! I haven’t had them in two years, what’s another year :-(

Smile of the day

Nothing does a better job of brightening a cold, wet, bleak London day like walking by a store and seeing a sale sign for ‘‘Mr. Brain’s Pork Faggots.’’

I know that British English is its own beast, but come-on! Pork Faggots!? You are just asking to be mocked!

Granted apparently in this side of the pond, among other things, a faggot is a kind of meatball. But that just makes it funnier in my opinion. And you HAVE to love this headline, ''Family of faggot fans fly the flag.''

Anywho, call me immature, but it still made me giggle.

Have a good one.

I'm not really a germaphobe...

...I just hate disease and it's causes. That why I went into public health.

But for the second year in a row I managed to be sick for New Year's eve; nothing as drastic as last year. Still it wasn't cute.

Anthony, Anuj, and I rang in the new years sneezing, coughing, and expectorating our way through a mountain of Kleenex. Toasting the new years with individual bottles of Robitussin.

I will say that through our cold/flu haze we did enjoy ourselves. Nothing like a rousing game of Taboo to really get you in the mood :-)

I still have a running nose, sinus headache and a dry cough. Is this a sign of the year to come? Sigh
